Friends of Sparsholt School
Latest FOSS Newsletter (September 2009)
At Sparsholt School, we are very fortunate to have a supportive, enthusiastic and active Parents Association. FoSS is a registered charity with a written constitution, an elected Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. A committee of about 15 parents and staff, meet at informal and friendly meetings every half term to discuss new fundraising and social ideas that the whole school can enjoy and benefit from.
FoSS has raised thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school in general. FoSS also supports many of the major school events: for example by providing refreshments at the Christmas performances, organising raffles and helping out at the annual sports day. If the thought of sitting in a meeting puts you off getting involved – don't worry! FoSS welcomes volunteers to participate in and help organise many of the fund-raising activities and social events that are held throughout the year from selling raffle tickets, to tea making and pond clearing.
Each class at Sparsholt School has a FoSS representative who provides a link between FoSS and you. They attend FoSS meetings and will be able to give you more information about what FoSS is currently working on. If they don’t know the answer to a question, they will be able to find out more from one of the Committee. They can also give you more information about what is involved when helping at events and coordinate with each other to ensure that there are enough helpers from different classes.
