School Bus

Sparsholt C of E Primary School is accessed via a narrow road running through Sparsholt Village.  Due to the rural location, a school bus is available at the beginning and end of the school day to transport children to designated bus stops, free of charge to Yr R* through to Yr 6 children, in Crawley and Littleton. An application must be made through Hampshire Home to School Transport in order to access this service.

Home to School Transport

There is no Local Authority funded Home to School Transport, free to the child/family, for children before they are compulsory school age. Children who meet the eligibility criteria may receive transport at the beginning of the term following their fifth birthday.

However, Hampshire County Council will ensure that there is sufficient transport capacity to enable all parents/carers of YR pupils to purchase a seat for the term(s) preceding and including their child’s fifth birthday, should they choose to do so.  The cost for a seat will depend on the distance from home to school and will be based on the following:

Distance

Annual charge

Termly cost

Up to 5 miles

£600

£200

Please  visit Hampshire Home to School Transport where you will be provided with information on eligibility criteria and application portal.

Travelling to School During Covid-19 Pandemic

Hampshire have to offer transport to school and the children who have been using the bus since 1st June are all in the same school 'bubble'.  The more children who request to use the school bus, the more 'bubbles' will be mixing.  We understand parents may want to use the school bus therefore you will have to balance the risk against government guidance:

Planning Guide for Primary Schools (Published 14 May 2020 Updated 4th June 2020)

 5. Practical steps to reduce risk

  • ensuring parents and carers are aware of recommendations on transport to and from school, which means reducing any unnecessary travel on coaches, buses or public transport where possible (for example, by walking or cycling to school) and avoiding peak times
With this in mind, please confirm with us whether it would be absolutely necessary for you to use the bus service to transport your child/children to and from school.
