Special Educational Needs & Disability

The school follows the SEND code of practice: 0 to 25 years  which is a comprehensive document outlining procedures for special needs and provision in maintained schools. It embraces the thrust in education towards inclusive policy and practices in mainstream schools wherever possible.   Staff are fully conversant with the New Code of Practice.

Our SEND Policy was revised and ratified by the Governing Body.

The governor responsible for SEND is Mrs Kathy Cobbold.  The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) is Mrs Jane Gwilliam.
 
Information on services available in Hampshire for children and young people from birth to 25 who have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) can be found on the Hampshire Local Offer website:

Children with SEND will be supported by the class teacher with additional help from our trained team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).

Parents have the opportunity to discuss their child's progress at parents' evenings and receive a full Annual School Report, as well as receiving termly notification, by letter, of I.E.P. (Individual Education Plans) targets. The opportunity is always available to request further meetings with any member of staff.
